Crystal has been the Executive Director of Carroll County Adult Education/ Carroll Academy for almost a decade. Her role extends as the programs Grant Writer in addition to the Friends of Carroll County Adult Tutorial Program and other non-profits throughout New England. Crystal has been NH’s Adult Education High School Equivalency Mentor and a member of the NH Adult Education Disabilities Committee since 2018. To better assist students, she is Chairman of the Carroll County Regional Coordinating Council and a member of Carroll County Youth Suicide Prevention committee. She participates in the United Ossipee Round Table, Carroll County Responds to Substance Use Disorder Committee, Youth Substance Misuse Prevention and the Carroll County Public Health Advisory Committees.
Athena Contus, instructor of Modern Beekeeping & The Ancient Honey Bee, has been with Carroll Academy since 2019 while teaching and mentoring through New Hampshire’s beekeeping clubs in person, at the Tamworth classroom, and on Zoom during the pandemic. She has been raising bees in New Hampshire’s Sandwich Mountain Range for over 15 years. As a University of Hawaii graduate, Athena’s experience as an Adult Education Teacher began in the 80s & 90s with the Hawaii Department of Education at Kalaheo High in Kailua, Oahu, her home for 17 years. She taught and certified Hawaii state clerical workers through this program for their job & pay upgrade classification for eight years.
Deb has been the Online Class (Edmentum) Facilitator for Carroll Academy for several years and has also taught English for Carroll Academy. For her day job, she is the Special Education Department Secretary at Kennett High School; prior to that she worked at Kennett High School as a Paraprofessional. She is a a certified Paraeducator II and holds a Teacher Statements of Eligibilities in Drama and Secondary Social Studies and English.
Leslie teaches the HiSET Program at Carroll County Adult Education and is also the Administrative Assistant to the Director, Crystal Sawyer. As a New York State Certified Teaching Assistant, she has over 15 years’ experience in education including the General Education Diploma program which is the New York State version of HiSET. She has over 20 years’ experience as a Regional Administrative Assistant for a Non Profit Company with skills in administrative, management, training and organization. Leslie moved to NH in 2020 and worked at Ossipee Central Schools as a New Hampshire Registered Behavioral Specialist in grade 1. She transferred to her current position in 2021. Her goal is to create academically engaging learning experiences through a safe, relaxed, and encouraging environment.
Rick Faucher has been teaching for more than 30 years in English Language Arts, Computer hardware and software, and Career Counseling. Rick has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English teaching from University of New Hampshire and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts. He taught students with special needs at the Willow Hill School in Sudbury, MA for 15 years before moving to Bartlett seven years ago. He is currently a HiSET and English Second Language instructor for CCAE.
Beth Waugh started in September 2022 at Carroll County Academy. Beth retired from the Governor Wentworth School district in June. She was a special education teacher at Crescent Lake School from 2002 to 2014. She returned to Ossipee Central School, where she started her career as an assistant, in 2014 and 2022. Beth’s passion is reading and helping struggling students grow in their literacy skills. She went back to school in order to receiver her Reading/Writing Certification from Granite State College and in 2013 graduated from Plymouth State University with her Masters in Education with a concentration in Reading.
In her career, Beth has worked with students from preschool through sixth grade. Although she has enjoyed working with elementary students, she has always wanted to work with adult learners. She has truly enjoyed working at CCA this fall.
Don Campbell has worked in the computer field for over 30 years. Starting with desktop publishing, he moved into computer installation, repair, WiFi networks and in-home and classroom training.. He specializes in serving the computer needs of homeowners and small businesses. He can be found online at www.pc-handyman.net.
Bobby joined the CCAE team in 2023 as the first Project Bike Tech instructor in a county jail. With nearly five decades of experience in manufacturing, machining, engineering, and workforce development, Bobby has built a distinguished career dedicated to advancing manufacturing excellence and technical education. His journey began in 1977 when he completed a Tool & Die Apprenticeship through the State of Maine. He later earned an Associate Degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the New Hampshire Technical College in Concord in 2005. Continuing his commitment to professional growth, he obtained a Train-the- Trainer Certificate from the University of New Hampshire in 2010 and achieved Lean Six Sigma Certification through the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth in 2013. Throughout his career, Bobby has developed extensive expertise in manufacturing technologies and engineering software.
Kristina (“Stina”) Kindwall teaches English Second Language classes for CCAE. Before moving back to the United States, she lived in Guadalajara, Mexico for 15 years, where she taught all levels of English at a bilingual middle and high school as well as Business English to adult learners. Prior to moving to Mexico, Stina worked in various international project management positions in the high tech industry. She comes from a long-time New Hampshire family and spent her childhood and teen years working at her grandparent’s summer resort near Wolfeboro. She has a BA in French from the University of Wisconsin, and an MA in Organizational Development from the University of San Francisco. Stina is delighted to be back in the classroom and working with people from all parts of the globe. She is fluent in Spanish.
Justice Ohanasian has been part of the Carroll County Adult Education team since 2024 as a HiSET instructor at the Carroll County Jail. She works with incarcerated adults of all ages and backgrounds, helping them earn their high school equivalency credentials in order to build better futures for themselves and their families. Justice has also implemented English SecondLanguage classes and a book club for inmates who seek educational opportunities other than HiSET. She is grateful to see how the HiSET program at the jail has flourished and grown exponentially over the past few years. In her free time, Justice loves to travel and spend time outdoors.
With a background in marketing and communications, Lauren brings a passion for connecting students with opportunities that support their growth and success. She particularly enjoys helping them explore their interests, identify their strengths, and discover pathways that align with their goals. Lauren finds great fulfillment in guiding students as they uncover their passions and build confidence in pursuing their future aspirations.
