The Dollar General Adult Literacy Grant Program

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation was established in 1993 by Cal Turner and Cal Turner Jr. to honor Dollar General’s co-founder, JL. Turner, who was a farmer’s son with only a third-grade education. Dollar General is proud to continue his legacy by supporting students along their educational journey. Our commitment to supporting literacy and education programs remains strong and unwavering. We commit to investing in and collaborating with local literacy providers and national partners to advance teacher and student success.

Our food storage site is located at All Saints Episcopal Church on South Main Street in Wolfeboro, NH. We serve preschool through Grade 6 students providing weekend meals all year round in the towns of Brookfield, Effingham, Middleton, New Durham, Ossipee, Tuftonboro, and Wolfeboro.

Transportation of food to each school or daycare site is provided with the help of the Governor Wentworth Regional School District Bus System.

Having used bike donations serviced through local partners and donating them back to the community.
